Jeff Landry spent several hours Wednesday trying to get Republican legislators on board with his plan to dramatically rewrite Louisiana’s tax code during a special session he wants to call in November.

Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry said his plan to revamp tax code and lower income tax rates will 'catapult' state to prosperity, population growth.

Landry said he recently met with Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen, a Republican who played defensive back for the Nebraska Cornhuskers from 1975-78. Pillen recalled seeing Mike IV parked outside the visitor’s locker room when he played at Tiger Stadium in a 1976 game, which ended tied 6-6.

Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry announced plans to call the Legislature into a special session in November, the third this year, to reform the state's tax system. Landry and much of his cabinet argue the current structure places Louisiana at a competitive disadvantage with neighboring states,
