North Texas saw snow and sleet starting Thursday, and with that came power outages. Oncor’s outage tracking website states its teams and resources are monitoring weather conditions and are ready to respond to outages.

The Oncor website notes that out of more than 4 million customers they serve, there are 56 outages affecting 880 customers.

This is different than in February 2021 when the there was a days long winter storm across the state. In the Dallas-Fort Worth area, the frigid temperatures lasted days in mid-February, with highs above freezing only once between Feb. 10 and Feb. 18.

Bowie County including Texarkana were both hit particularly hard by winter storms that passed through East Texas last night. More than 16,000 people were reportedly without power in Texarkana, that’s more than half of the power outages reported throughout all of East Texas this morning.

Nearly 2,000 Alabama Power customers are currently experiencing power outages as a result of ongoing winter storms, according to the company’s website. Crews have been working throughout the morning to restore service and have been successful in bringing outage numbers down from the over 7,

East Texans are without power as of 6:35 p.m. on Friday, after a winter storm blanketed many areas of northern East Texas with snow overnight.
