Canned tuna has been recalled, including some with an H-E-B label, at Texas grocery stores after a manufacturing defect put the product at risk of contamination that could cause potentially fatal food poisoning.

Tuna sold in 26 states and in Washington, D.C., was recalled over concerns that it may have been contaminated. The stores affected include Trader Joe’s, Genova, Van Camp’s and H-E-B.

California-based Tri-Union Seafoods issued the voluntary recall for canned tuna sold under H-E-B and Trader Joe's brand names. The tuna is also sold at Costco, Kroger, Walmart and other locations under Genova and Van Camp's labels.
