Australians will finally be able to officially buy Valve’s Steam Deck in their home country — two and a half years after the handheld gaming PC first went on sale, and a year after it arrived in Japan,

Australian gamers won't have to buy Steam Deck at exorbitant prices from a reseller anymore or to import them into the country with help from a friend overseas. At PAX Australia, Valve has announced that it will start selling the handheld PC gaming device in the country starting in November.

Mobile gamers, rejoice. The Steam Deck, introduced by Valve in early 2022, is now officially being sold by the PC gaming giant in Australia, a market the handheld gaming PC has long officially dodged, despite being a popular purchase through third-party retailers.

Valve's Steam Deck is officially coming to Australia, as announced by Valve via a special countdown video presented to gamers at the PAX convention in Melbourne today. Valve has also set up a booth on the PAX floor where fans can check out the handheld for themselves.

Valve has decided to put in the work and make Final Fantasy 16 playable on Steam Deck with a Proton Experimental update.
