The holidays are behind us, meaning children are heading back to school after the break. Meanwhile, education leaders in Michigan say there is still room for students to get an early education thanks to a new state-funded program.

Record numbers of Michigan children are enrolling in subsidized pre-k programs offered by the state, though nowhere near enough for the programs to be considered universal. A variety of programs, including Michigan’s Great Start Readiness Program,

The Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement and Potential is working with its partners to ensure Michigan families know they still have access to no-cost, high-quality pre-K this school year.

There is still time and capacity for families to enroll their 4-year-olds in the no-cost PreK for All this school year. That was the message during a Tuesday press call by the Michigan Department of Lifelong Education,

Educators across the state say if you take away that cost, it could save up to $10,000 a year. All of this is possible because Michigan lawmakers set aside $655 million for the program.
