It appears X (formerly Twitter) users can once again send Signal.me links, two days after the blog Disruptionist first reported a block. The platform wasn't allowing links of the URL used by encrypted messaging service Signal — it allows people to quickly contact others directly.

If you are unable to post Signal.me links on X right now, you're not alone. As Disruptionist’s Matt Binder reports, X is currently blocking all links to Signal.me, a domain used by the Signal messaging app to let its users send and receive encrypted messages securely.

Blocking portions of Signal on X is weird but it’s also in keeping with how Elon Musk has run the business. The social media platform has restricted links to outside sites like Mastodon, Facebook, Instagram, and Bluesky for years. He often suspends accounts that are critical of him or his operations.

X is blocking “Signal.me” links in public posts, direct messages, and even profile bio updates. The Elon Musk-owned company is yet to clarify the restrictions.

This restriction affects both public posts and direct messages, as first reported by the blog Disruptionist (via TechCrunch ). Users receive an error message when attempting to share a Signal.me link on X. Similarly, attempting to send the link via direct message (DM) is blocked.
