Meta is bringing certain AI features to its Meta Ray-Ban AR glasses in France, Italy, and Spain after a brief delay.

The Samsung XR headset project has been an open secret for some time, but a new report suggests it has finally settled on a design we’ll see in 2025. The bad news? It could be landing later in the year than we’d like and might not be as ‘XR’ as we had hoped.

Meta announced it is opening up Meta Lab, a pop-up experiential retail space for its Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses starting November 8th in Los Angeles. The temporary store will be around through the end of the year and allow customers to try out the glasses and customize their glasses cases as they shop.

There’s no precise word on how much they’ll cost when they launch, but Xiaomi is known for producing more affordable tech than its better-known rivals, so we expect its smart specs to start at less than Meta Ray-Ban’s $299 / £299 / AU$449 starting price.

The report comes from the Chinese site 36Kr, which says that Xiaomi has Meta's smart specs firmly in its sights. Its AI-powered glasses will "fully benchmark against Meta Ray-Ban", it claims. This sounds like they'll match or exceed the specification of Meta's product.
