Doctors in New York City are chronicling the first known United States cases of sexually transmitted ringworm (Trichophyton mentagrophytes).

CDC officials have diagnosed five cases of the mystery genital infection so far, but fear more are in the community. They were diagnosed among gay or bisexual men.
