Geoffrey Hinton, a British-Canadian professor at the University of Toronto, won the Nobel Prize in physics at the beginning of the month for work on artificial neural networks.
The Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences, established by Sweden’s central bank Sveriges Riksbank, has been awarded since 1969, recognising exceptional research in economics.
